Scheduling an Appointment

Unless you have an emergency, please schedule appointments at the office most convenient for you:

For Massachusetts appointments (978) 794-1946

For New Hampshire appointments (603) 898-2244.

For Rheumatology appointments (978) 327-6562.

We do our best to see scheduled patients promptly. However, orthopaedic emergencies require immediate attention, so we will do our best to minimize your waiting time if an unforeseen emergency delays your appointment.

Initial Visit

At your first visit, please bring your insurance card, a photo ID and films or reports from completed imaging, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs and EMGs. Also helpful are any pertinent records from other treating physicians and a list of your current medications.

If you are a member of an HMO, you may be required to obtain a formal referral to our office from your primary care physician and/or insurance company.

It is the patient’s responsibility to get a referral, if required, from their physician. We may cancel the appointment if there is no referral on file.

Canceling an Appointment

We appreciate a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if you cannot keep a scheduled appointment to avoid unnecessary delays and allow us to see other patients and promptly care for their medical needs.

Emergencies

Patients with serious injuries or life-threatening emergencies should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you have an urgent need during office hours, please call the office and let the receptionist know why you’re calling.

Urgent calls will be triaged and routed to a clinical practitioner immediately, and we may request that you come to the office so we can see you in person. If you have questions about whether an emergency should be considered life-threatening, we encourage you to err on the side of caution and call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Prescription Renewals

You may call our office with a prescription renewal request during office hours 72 hours before needing a new prescription.

We try to honor all requests for prescription renewals within 72 hours, but we do not process prescription renewals after hours and during weekends and holidays, so please ensure you have enough medication for times our office is closed.

Please provide the following information when requesting a prescription renewal:

  • The name of the patient
  • The patient’s date of birth
  • The name of the medication
  • The medication dosage
  • The name and telephone number of your pharmacy

We cannot prescribe medications by phone for patients who haven’t been seen by one of our providers or for conditions that aren’t diagnosed and/or treated in our offices.

Insurance and Billing

Insurance Referrals

Many insurance companies require a referral from your primary care physician (PCP) to cover visits to a Mobility Bone & Joint Institute provider. Please verify with your insurance company whether you need a referral before visiting us.

It is the patient’s responsibility to get a referral, if required, from their physician. We may cancel the appointment if there is no referral on file.

We participate with most insurance plans, including Aetna, AARP, AllWays Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Health Plans, Fallon Community Health Plan, Medicaid (MassHealth), Medicare, Partners Health Choice, Steward Health Choice, Tufts Health Plan, Unicare, United Healthcare and workers’ compensation plans.

Please call our office or your insurance company if you have any questions or concerns about whether we accept your insurance plan.

Please verify any insurance changes before your visit, including plan changes, deductibles and cost shares. While we submit routine claims for payment, the contract with your insurance company determines your financial responsibility.

You are responsible for all co-payments at the time of your office visit.
